Wolf Creek

Ponoka, Alberta

Rod Whitman’s first solo foray into the field of golf course design was dubbed the Old course at Wolf Creek Golf Resort.  The 18-hole layout opened for play in 1984.  The design received great praise throughout Canadian golf circles and stands as one of the first minimalist design efforts of the modern era of golf course design.

By the mid-1990s the resort had been expanded to a 27-hole offering, which included the East nine, West nine, and newer South nine layouts.  Fifteen years later, in 2010, Rod unveiled another 9 holes.  When combined to with the existing South nine, this new layout helped to form the Links course. The new design offered wide fairways, huge sandy waste areas, cleverly contoured green sites, and fescue laced bunkers.
