Marine Drive Golf Club

Vancouver, British Columbia

Set on the shore of the Fraser River, on the south side of Vancouver, Marine Drive Golf Club was opened in 1922.  Originally designed by Arthur Vernon Macan, 18 holes were masterfully squeezed on to 105 acres.  Macan’s design utilized minimal bunkering and boldly contoured greens to challenge all manner of approach and recovery shots.  Measuring a modest 6,361 yards from the back tees, Marine Drive calls for accuracy and thought throughout a round.  In 2021, Rod Whitman was retained as Marine Drive’s consulting architect.

During the summer of 2024, Rod Whitman and Keith Cutten worked to redesign the practice range at Marine Drive.  New target greens, contouring and drainage were established.  Combined with improved netting and Trackman technology, the revamped range has become a favorite spot for a membership that really loves to practice.

Roles:  Rod Whitman (Consulting Architect).
