Brantford Golf & Country Club

Brantford, Ontario

As the 4th oldest club in North America, Brantford Golf and Country Club oozes a timeless charm. Perched on stunning land overlooking the Grand River, Brantford’s mix of holes offers variety and nuance not regularly seen on other classics. That is probably why, nearly a century after the firm of Thompson, Cumming and Thompson laid out the initial holes, it remains one of Canada’s golfing jewels.

Rod Whitman and Keith Cutten were retained in 2018 to create a Comprehensive Master Plan to assess the golf course and its infrastructure.  In 2021, our team began the implementation of the approved plan with extensive renovations throughout the property.  The $5-million (CAD) project included a complete bunker renovation, widening of fairways, a new irrigation system, the expansion of a pond, new teeing areas, and the reworking of five green complexes (at holes 3, 6, 7, 16 and 17).

Starting in 2024, following the successful completion of the renovation project, Keith Cutten was retained as the club’s consulting architect.  Future projects are currently in the planning stages and will focus on additional site drainage and teeing area improvements, as well as the re-envisioning of the practice areas.

Role: Keith Cutten (Consulting Architect)
