Shorty’s

Mike and Chris Keiser, owners of Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon, appointed WAC Golf to design a new short course immediately south of the resort’s Bandon Preserve layout.  The new course opened in May 2024 and joined the resort’s six other courses – Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald, Bandon Preserve and Sheep Ranch.  WAC Golf was the first new design team to work at the resort since Coore & Crenshaw designed Bandon Trails in 2005.

The site for the new course is all sand dunes, but more undulating than elsewhere on the Bandon property. The site is ideal for a short course. Whitman, Axland and Cutten were responsible for the shaping of the key golf features. Tony Russell, a local contractor who has contributed to every golf course at the resort, assisted with construction. Irrigation design was handled by Greg Baer.  Finally, Ken Nice and the agronomy team have expertly managed the course’s grow-in and maintenance.
